280Z RepairAUTO COOL 85-A & AUTO COOL 85-B

All Auto Cool controllers are sold with a full year warranty and made in the USA!

The 85 Auto Cool controllers are manufactured two different modes of operation.

The A controller uses Pulse Width Modulation or FAN RPM control to regulate the temperature of your radiator.

The B controller uses Pulse Width Modulate from a DEAD STOP to full fan RPM and then when the radiator temperature has been lowered the fan(s) will Pulse Width Modulate to FULL OFF. This cycle will continue to regulate the temperature of your radiator.

Both the A & the B controllers use modern transistors to switch fans not relays that will burn out over time. Switching high current fans from a dead stop is a relay killer from the ultra high switching current.

Both the A and the B controllers will continue to operate for about one minute after the ignition has been turned off. This will cool down your radiator in the hot summer.

Both A and B controllers are fused at 100 amps. If you require more current see our blue Auto Cool III a 125 Amp controller.

Both the A and the B controllers have a fail safe mode that will turn the fan(s) on full RPM for any emergencies. A small switch on the dash to enable fail safe at will.

Both the A and the B controller use the same sensor, including Auto Cool II and III. The sensor is attached to the OUTFLOW port of your radiator. This makes it a closed loop system to regulate the temperature. Do not install to the inflow port!

Have more horse power at GREEN LIGHTS with a new Auto Cool controller.

Avoid over heating your engine in slow traffic or towing loads up steep mountain grades.

No program to install, to set up or worry about with Auto Cool controllers.

When you start the motor cold, the fan(s) will not start until the engine thermostat opens and coolant starts to flow out of the radiator. When you stop and the motor is running the fans will spin to regulate the radiator temperature.

Auto Cool 85-A has a small internal pot that is used to adjust the air conditioning fan speed from about 50% to 100% RPM. Auto Cool 85-B DOES NOT have this mode. The 85-B controller puts the fan at full RPM with the A/C on.

Auto Cool 85-A or B will driver one or more fans to 85 Amps & FUSED at 100 Amps.

At freeway speeds, the fan(s) with Auto Cool 85-A should be at or close to zero RPM.

Use the black knob on Auto Cool to preset the operating temperature of your radiator.

No probes stuck into your radiator to cause leaks from vibration.

You can connect FAN A and FAN B brass bolts together for a single fan.

You can short FAN A or FAN B brass terminals to ground to test the fan at any time.

You can short the sensor wires together to test the controller at any time.

Never connect FAN A or FAN B to the battery – this will damage the controller.

If you have electrical noise from an after market fuel pump, the special DC filter in Auto Cool 85 controllers will be immune from this problem.

The 7 terminals on the controllers are easy to read and understand – even years later on all Auto Cool controllers. You can not change the 85-A to an 85-B controller or the other way around.

Auto Cool 85-A is marked with a WHITE SQUARE and PWM on the cover.

Auto Cool 85-B is marked with a WHITE CIRCLE and 0-1-0 on the cover.
